Busting Myths About Anti-wrinkle Injections

Myth #1: Anti-wrinkle injections are dangerous:

This couldn’t be further from the truth! There has long been a fear and stigma associated with anti-wrinkle injections because many are misinformed, or lack knowledge of what the treatment really is.

Anti-wrinkle treatment is a result of years of study and research. The substance injected is a two-chain polypeptide protein and a neurotoxin, created using a purified form of the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. This is derived from a natural product and is used to block the communication channel between a nerve and a muscle, greatly reducing the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. These injections are therefore completely safe and will provide long-term results.

Myth #2: Anti-wrinkle injections result in the loss of facial expressions

One of the most common misconceptions people have about anti-wrinkle injections is that they’ll never be able to express their emotions again. This is simply not true. An injection will temporarily render the target facial muscle incapable of contraction, which will delay the permanent formation of wrinkles and creases. This doesn’t mean that you can no longer form facial expressions, though. You can still show happiness, sadness, or anger through your face even with anti-wrinkle injections, but only with fewer lines.

Myth #3: Anti-wrinkle injections are very painful and can cause excessive swelling

Anti-wrinkle treatments are performed with a small insulin injecting syringe, which inserts a small amount of the substance into a dedicated area for effect. The substance does not enter the bloodstream; therefore the only sensation you will feel is akin to a small pinprick. You will feel only a minimal amount of discomfort, especially when the injection is administered by a highly trained and experienced professional.

Additionally, the treatment will not produce excessive swelling when it is done correctly. Like most treatments, it’s normal to experience some side effects, but these are mild and temporary.

Myth #4: It Only Works on Facial Lines

In recent history, anti wrinkle injections are being used for more than just cosmetic reasons. Because of its paralyzing effect, it has been put to use with other problematic conditions, such as migraines, excessive sweating, neck tremors and facial twitches. These treatments have helped to provide many benefits to patients who are suffering from these debilitating conditions.
