Anti-wrinkle injections are becoming increasingly popular amongst men. Whilst Australia-specific statistics are currently unavailable, the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS) has found that the number of cosmetic enhancement procedures totalled 453,281 in 2016, adding up to 9.9% of total procedures done on men and women. ASPS reported that the number of men getting injections increased by 337% since 2000.

So why has there been such a significant increase in males undergoing anti-wrinkle treatment?

Most men typically want a look that is rested, relaxed and comfortable. They want to maintain their rugged looks, at the same time as eliminating lines, softening the look of ageing and revitalizing their skin. Anti-wrinkle treatments are a great way to achieve this in a time-effective manner.

Additionally, anti-wrinkle treatment can effectively be used to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). Hyperhidrosis peaks between age 18-54. The condition can affect many parts of a individual’s life. Anti-wrinkle injections block the communication between the nerve and sweat gland.

How do anti-wrinkle injections work?

Anti-wrinkle treatment works by injecting a
muscle relaxant into the problem area, blocking nerve signals and reducing muscular contraction. The result is a refreshed and youthful appearance.

How much does it cost?

We charge $12 per unit (including GST). The number of units you require depend upon the area being treated. Below is a guide to estimate how many units you may need. These estimates apply to women – men often need 1.5 times as many units to achieve the same effect.

  • Crow’s Feet: 6-12 units each side
  • Frown (brow lines): 15-25 units
  • Forehead lines: 5-15 units
  • Tooth grinding: 20-35 units each side
  • Gummy smile: 2 units each side

How many injections do I need? Does 50 units mean 50 injections?

No, 50 units does not mean 50 injections. Generally, at each injection site, 3 units are injected. This means for an area like the Crow’s feet, which requires approx. 12 units each side, there will be 4 injection sites, with 3 units injected at each site.
